What Are Nicotine Lozenges And How Can They Help With Quitting Smoking?

Nicotine Lozenges are another form of nicotine replacements. Nicotine replacements can be helpful in cutting down on nicotine withdrawal symptoms, but do nicotine lozenges work as well as other nicotine replacements?

Commit Lozenge is one of the more popular brands around.  Commit offers lozenges if flavors such as mint, cappuccino, cherry and original flavor.  Commit Lozenge costs approximately $45 and is available at local stores as well as online.  The website (http://commitlozenge.com) offers a $5 coupon for download.

How does the Commit Lozenge work?

Commit LozengeA controlled amount of nicotine is absorbed slowly and gradually from the lozenge.  The lozenge works long after the lozenge itself is gone.  By helping with user experience fewer nicotine withdrawal symptoms, the individual also experiences fewer nicotine cravings.
The Commit Lozenge does not contain tar or carbon monoxide like cigarettes do, so you are not exposed to the same health risks as you are when you smoke a tobacco cigarette.

Typically used over a 12-week period, the Commit Lozenge offers two different strength lozenges (2 mg and 4 mg).  Someone who may need a 4mg lozenge pack is someone who smokes their first cigarette within the first 30 minutes of waking up in the day.
You should not use Commit Lozenges if you intend to continue smoking cigarettes.

Once you’ve quit smoking cigarettes, you can begin to use Commit Lozenges.  Online directions say the user should take a lozenge in their mouth and allow it to dissolve slowly without chewing or swallowing it before it has dissolved.  If you don’t do this, your body will not absorb the correct amount of nicotine.

Some users experience a warm tingling sensation as the nicotine is released and makes contact with the mouth tissues.

Users should occasionally be moving the nicotine lozenge from one side of their mouth to the other.  It will take approximately 20 to 30 minutes for the lozenge to completely dissolve.

Initial treatment starts out with individuals using a lozenge every one to two hours for the first six weeks.  After six weeks, 1 lozenge should be used every two to four hours and this should be done for three weeks.  After 9 weeks using the product, the user makes their final transition by using 1 lozenge every 4 to 8 hours.

Another interesting thing about the Commit Lozenge is the fact that the manufacturer offers Commit Rewards.  Consumers who buy specially marked boxes can turn in rewards codes to receive coupons and rebates of up to $20 at a time.  This can definitely enhance the experience because cost is a huge factor for a lot of people who are trying to quit smoking.  When a user has purchased up to 800 lozenges, they have the opportunity to receive up to $129 back in Commit Rewards.

Also available on the website are tips and treatment options for people who are trying to quit.  All in all, I was very impressed with the amount of information and help this site offers.

I have entirely quit smoking for 5 years now but am totally addicted now to Commit. Other than all the money I've spent on Commit over the years, I wonder if there is any long-term problems associated with continual use of the product. If I quit the Commit, I know I will gain weight, and I can't let that happen to me.

quit smoking in 1999 after 40 plus years.Went to the gum at first, and to lozenges as soon as they came out.No problem with not smoking but am certainly addicted to commit lozenges, which I figure is no problem, compared to cigs. When the cappuccino came out,I immediatly embraced them,They are Delicious! BUT,if taken for too long without using gum or other lozenge flavors in between sores will develop in my mouth and very tender tounge! This does not happen with the cherry or mint, and it looks like something is going on as they are getting very hard to find at Walmart or Target!

I have taken Commit lozenges for seven months and become addicted to them. I am tired of being addicted to nicotine and the lozenges have become costly. I am now attempting to quit them for good.
