I’m finding information from people who have smoked for 20 or 30 years, use the patch for a few weeks and then are done. My opinion is that what it really depends on is how ready you are to quit. Bottom line is that when people are ready to quit, they do. The people who are unsuccessful may have a strong interest in quitting, but may still carry the belief that there are positive benefits to smoking, such as stress relief, relaxation, the social aspect and things of that nature.
