Herbs can be smoked just like cigarettes. One must be extremely careful when dabbling in the world of smoking herbs, however, there are many herbs which are harmless and can be smoked not only to replace the tobacco cigarette habit, but also to help clear the lungs and body of the affects of cigarettes.

The first step to smoking herbs for better health is to understand that there is a method to drying and using the herbs correcting. If done incorrectly, a smoker may end up with an obnoxious smoke, making it too difficult for anyone to stomach.
The key is to allowing the herbs to dry out slowly and not to get too dry. The dried herbs need to retain some amount of moisture in order to be effective. Herbs can be picked fresh and packaged in an airtight container, never drying out completely.
If the user is planning to roll the herbs in cigarette paper, the mixture must be mixed well and it must be a fine mixture so that nothing pokes holes through the cigarette paper. This being said, there should be no stems in the herbal mixture. The slower burning roots and hard herbs should be powdered or chopped up very finely.
The best physical base for smoking herbs is Mullein. It’s a light and puffy smoke and mixes well with other herbs, burning evenly. Herbs like Mullein and Mugwort need to be rubbed between the hands before use. They should be rubbed until they feel light and fluffy. You can put Mullein in a blender just before use also.
Next, you need to decide on a flavoring herb. It may take several tries before you find a mixture which works best for you. Some barks, such as Willow and Dogwood can be used for body.
Mullein is excellent for the lungs and can soothe infection and irritation. It can help stop a cough due to being ill.
Herbs like horehound, marrubium vulgare and coltsfoot are commonly used in smoking ingredients. They promote coughing and aid in mucous relief.
Lobelia is an herb which is often used to aid in quitting smoking, however, if overused, it can cause vomiting and nausea. To give you an idea of it’s strength, consider the fact that one drinking it as tea should add only a small pinch to half a gallon of water. This being said, only a pinch should be added to your smoking mixture.
Lobelia has a very calming effect on a smoker. It’s also available in herbal supplement form, so if you are worried about smoking it and making yourself sick, this may be a viable option for you. The key is to start off with small amounts and don’t overdo it. Be extremely careful when mixing herbal smokes.
