I read one article which suggested dipping cigarettes in milk, allowing them to dry out and then attempting to smoke them. Apparently the taste is unbelievably bad. Personally, I don’t view this as a helpful suggestion because if it were as easy as that, no one would smoke.
Another good beverage to consume when you’re trying to quit smoking is orange juice. Smoking cigarettes regularly is causing a smoker’s body to lose a lot of needed Vitamin C. Their bodies replace the Vitamin C with some of the bad toxins and chemicals from the cigarettes. So if you’re getting a lot of Vitamin C from oranges, lemons, black currants and pomegranates, your body will clear itself of the negative toxins faster and it won’t have room for the bad toxins found in cigarettes, which may also lesson your cravings.
Celery, zucchini, eggplant, beans and cucumbers can also affect the way cigarettes taste. Eating a diet heavy in these foods is also said to decrease a smoker’s desire for nicotine. Some people who are trying to quit smoking snack on celery sticks whenever they feel the urge to smoke. If you don’t like celery, you can eat carrot sticks instead.
Otherwise, try to stay away from eating an excessive amount of sweet fruits and other foods, because glucose levels can be activated in the areas of the brain which are responsible for pleasure and satisfaction, stimulating nicotine cravings.
Broccoli is another super food for individuals who are trying to quit smoking as it can promote healthy lungs while protecting them from many cancers and other diseases.
Drinking just a glass of red wine a day can lower the risk of lung cancer. People who drink just one glass of red wine a day are a 60% lower risk of getting lung cancer (smokers and non-smokers) than people who don’t. Not to mention that red wine is useful in heart and blood flow.
Choose your foods wisely and drink lots of water so that you can really clear your system out of the toxins which have been building up while you were a smoker.
