Will the years I've smoked effect my athletic performace if I quit?
I've quit smoking and I want to persue a very athletic sport that requires alot of endurance. I've been smoking for 4 years and recently quit. Will these 4 years effect my performance now that I don't smoke?
Answers:
for a while you might be a little out of breath, but the longer you work at it and keep from smoking the better you will get
Your lung cilia will regrow after about 9 mos. So after about a year, your aerobic capacity improvements (which should be pretty fast!) may start to level off a bit as you approach your innate capacity. A good fitness facility should be able to do a cardiac 'max' test that informs you of your aerobic capacity. You are much better off- good job! Stay quit!
its actually all propaganda that smoking will make u less athletic, but the truth is... is causes breathing problem is SOME people after they stop smoking
